Former businessman and mayor of Lagoa, Luís Martins Mota, was honored on the tenth anniversary of Nonagon, with the naming of the science and technology park's auditorium after him, in recognition of his contribution to regional development.
The Vice-President of the Regional Government, Artur Lima, considered Luís Martins Mota to be an inspiring personality, highlighting him as...
"An example of true democratic citizenship." "Beyond his commitment to Lagoa, Mr. Luís Alberto Martins Mota dedicated his entire professional life to the Azores. He did so not only from the business sector, but also as a politician, as a regional deputy, mayor, and through the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores."
"Engineer Luís Martins Mota exemplifies strategic vision, a sense of mission, and commitment to the future. Throughout his career, he left his mark on every project he was involved in, making a significant contribution to the development of his homeland and ours as well. Naming the Nonagon auditorium after him is, therefore, a way to perpetuate this legacy, associating it with this space which is a space for knowledge, debate, and the collective construction of ideas for the future," stated the president of the Board of Directors of the Nonagon Association, Luis de Almeida.
